The Journal of Rural and Community Development (JRCD) is pleased to announce the release of Volume 10, Issue 1. Over the past two years, the JRCD has worked diligently to overcome a backlog of submissions, occurring in part from a number of special issues. We are approaching our 10th anniversary (October 2015) and with this issue have now published 259 papers, 245 of which have been peer-reviewed. This is an accomplishment that we are very proud of. I would like to thank the Editorial Board, Editorial Assistants, Copy Editors, and Brandon University for the support and energy they bring to the JRCD.

The JRCD gratefully acknowledges funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) through their 'Aid to Scholarly Publications' programme. We were recently successful in securing renewed SSHRC funding for 2015-2018. This assists us in improving the review and publication process and marketing the JRCD.

The JRCD is published by the Rural Development Institute (RDI) at Brandon University. RDI was established in 1989 as an academic research centre and a leading source of information on issues affecting rural communities in western Canada and elsewhere. The JRCD benefitted with initial funding from the Manitoba Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development. For more information, please visit: http://www.brandonu.ca/rdi.
