The Journal of Rural and Community Development (JRCD) is pleased to announce the release of Volume 9, Issue 2. This issue of the JRCD is dedicated to Cheryl Williams who passed away suddenly in 2010. She was in the first semester of her PhD program in Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan at the time of her death. Her co-authored paper in this issue is based on her master’s thesis research. Pammla Petrucka was Cheryl’s advisor. It was Pammla’s wish to publish this peer-reviewed article in honour of Cheryl’s work and her family.

The next issue (9(3)) will be released shortly. We appreciate the patience of authors as we deal with the high volume of submissions.

The JRCD acknowledges funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada through their 'Aid to Scholarly Publications' programme. This assists us in improving the review and publication process and marketing the JRCD.

The JRCD is published by the Rural Development Institute (RDI) at Brandon University. RDI was established in 1989 as an academic research centre and a leading source of information on issues affecting rural communities in western Canada and elsewhere. The JRCD benefitted with initial funding from the Manitoba Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development. For more information, please visit:
